155 ARMD REGT GETS 30-ROOM OFFICERS’ ACCN

Ghana’s Minister for Defence – Mr Dominic Nitiwul, aided by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces – Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, and his Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, have commissioned 30 self-contained single rooms clustered into 6 separate blocks of 5 rooms for the 155 Armoured Regiment.

The commissioning event of the series of accommodation blocks for Officers of the Regiment, took place at Damongo, in the Savannah Region on Wednesday 12 April 2023.

The Minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bimbilla, lauded the military high command (MHC) for providing transformational leadership, for conceiving the establishment of the new Armoured Regiment and continuously providing resources for the Unit.

Minister Nitiwul, stating government’s quest to have all troops accommodated in Barracks, expressed pleasure at the CDS, supported by the COAS and their staff, for mobilising resources outside government, to constantly realize their aspirations.

The construction of this Officers’ accommodation, as well as a 180-bed Young Soldiers accommodation in 2022 for the Regiment, were all fully funded by the Ghana Army.

The Commanding Officer (CO), 155 Armoured Regiment – Lieutenant Colonel Philemon Adotey Hoffman conveyed the joy and appreciation of the Regiment to the Minister, the MHC, the traditional and local leaders, for supporting the Unit, stating that morale of the troops was very high due to the attention and support accorded the Regiment.

The Contractor for the project, who delivered with quality and on time is Mr Joseph Kwaku Yeboah.

The dignitaries at the ceremony included Mr Saeed Muhazu Jibril – Savannah Regional Minister; Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Matthew Kweku Essien – General Officer Commanding, Northern Command; Brig Gen Kenneth Kwaku Kwaah Kumi – Deputy Chief Staff Officer (DCSO), Logistics; Brig Gen Emmanuel Acheampong-Baidoo – (DCSO) Administration.

Additionally, there was Colonel Aaron Richard Osei – pioneer CO of 155 Armd Regt, and Senior Warrant Officer Class I (SWOI) Dormah T – Acting Sergeant Major of the Army.
