The Commanding Officer (CO), 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Dominic Ampomah, has paid a working visit with his troops deployed on OPERATION (OP) MOTHERLAND, within the Battalion’s area of responsibility (AoR).

The visitation by the CO, along with his Unit Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) – Senior Warrant Officer Class 1 (SWOI) Kingsley Ebow Koomson, was undertaken on Saturday 11 February 2023, from 0715 to 1430 hours, to troops stationed at Akuse, Atimpoku and Akosombo.
Colonel Ampomah undertook the endeavour to interact with his troops, update them on happenings in the Unit and find out their challenges.

At all locations visited, the CO held a mini durbar with troops who were off duty, and briefed them on the Operational, Administrative and Logistics state of the Unit, and commended them for their vigilance, alertness and professionalism.
While extending Higher Command’s commendations to troops for their alertness and professionalism, which led to recent seizure of ammunition hidden in a Yendi-bound vehicle, and the arrest of a suspected murderer on the Adomi Bridge, the CO advised his charges to continue to remain alert and be professional at all times and eschew any acts of indiscipline.

The CO’s visit, which also had him interacting with personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), also saw Lt Col Ampomah informing troops that the Rotation of troops on OP MOTHERLAND would commence immediately after Ghana’s 66th Independence Day Celebration.
The CO further said he intends to regularize such morale-boosting and fact-finding visits to his troops within 1Bn’s AoR, to further foster closeness between Command and troops, and to facilitate the attainment of set objectives.
