Ghana Army’s 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) has held its End-of-Year Non-Denominational Religious Thanksgiving Service, in conjunction with the Thanksgiving Service prior to the Passing-Out of trainees of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), groomed by the Battalion.

The service which was held on Sunday 17 December 2023, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Michel Camp, was under the theme: “In All Things Give Thanks to the LORD”, with the Corporate Resource Manager, GPHA – Mr Kwabena Adu-Sarfo, as the Guest of Honour.

He commended the Battalion for their selfless dedication to national duty through Operations CALMLIFE, COWLEG, MOTHERLAND, AHOWDO, HALT II, amongst others, and peacekeeping missions outside the country, as deserving high mention.

He further stated that the GPHA has a long-standing relationship with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and that as a model institution of professionalism and discipline, the former takes pride in its partnership with the latter, in the areas of training.

Mr Adu-Sarfo further stated that the journey of the latest batch of trainees of Security Personnel of GPHA, began here at Michel Camp on Saturday 11 November 2023, and that the training is pivotal to the constructive phase as members of the Security Department of the GPHA.

He concluded that the training would help shape GPHA’s security personnel into astute professionals, capable of assisting the ports authority to efficiently deliver on its core mandate of providing unique, safe and secured port management in Ghana.

Delivering a message on the theme, the Battalion Imam – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Shamsudeen Mensah (Rtd), and a Reverend Father of the Anglican Church, emphasized on how ingratitude could mislead one into temptation, and attract anger from God, stating that thanksgiving in one’s heart (unseen) can be observed in a person’s actions.
