Ghana Army’s 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) has held its 2024 West Africa Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA), to refresh troops, their families and friends of the Unit, after executing all their assigned tasks to perfection.
The event was held from the dusk Friday 14 February 2025 till late, at the Vib-Sanziri Gardens, Michel Camp, with the Assistant Commandant, Junior Division, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Barima Brako Owusu, as the Guest of Honour.


Brig Gen BB Owusu highly commended the Commanding Officer (CO), 1Bn – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Frank Adams, Officers, Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) – Senior Warrant Officer Class 2 (SWO II) Kingsley Ebow Koomson, Warrant Officers (WOs), Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs), and all Soldiers of the Battalion, for staying united and fulfilling their mandate.
In 2024, some of the assigned tasks 1Bn undertook in parts of the Greater Accra Region and the Eastern Region of Ghana included; Operation (Op) MOTHERLAND, Op COWLEG, Op CALM LIFE, Op ENHANCED CALM LIFE, Op PEACE TRAIL, amongst others; of which the General spoke highly of the performance of the troops for executing them with professionalism.


At the event which was well attended by the Chief of Saki – Nmlitsakpo, Nii Tetteh Oglie II, some retired Officers and Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff, friends of the Unit, Brig Gen Owusu – who is a former CO of the Unit – praised spouses of the troops for providing support for the soldiers to deliver on their assigned tasks.
Awards of citation plaques and electronic wares were also presented to personnel who distinguished themselves in service, within the period.
