Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) 1 Garrison Education Centre (1GEC) has held a ceremony to recognize, appreciate and celebrate the impact its retiring facilitators have made in the lives of students, and the school community over the years.
The event was held at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Michel Bamp, with the Guest of Honour being the Director of Education, Kpone-Katamanso Municipal – Mr Harry Evans Arthur, with support from the 1 Garrison Education Officer (1 GEO) – Captain Juaha Adamu.


The Teachers/Facilitators who have retired are; Mr Seth Nuwoati, Madam Cynthia Odoom, Madam Stella Adzakpa, Mr Michael Yeboah, Miss Joyce Nyame, Madam Beatrice Agbey, Madam Gladys Mensah, and Pastor Robert Mensah.
Delivering his welcome address, Captain J Adamu described Facilitators as persons who serve as a beacon of knowledge, wisdom and inspiration, and are the actors of society, moulding young minds to become critical thinkers, ready to navigate the complexities of the world.


He continued to say that facilitators in their daily lives, embark on journeys to ignite the brains of curiosity, instill values of empathy, resilience and to unearth the countless potentials of each learner, with a noble agenda that requires patience, empathy and unwavering commitment to the betterment of society.
To the retiring class, he asserted that retirement may mark the end of their formal teaching careers, but does not diminish the profound impact they have made in many lives, the school and the society as a whole, and further described mentorship as the greatest asset society can ever rely on for a positive development.


At the climax of the event, 1 GEC gave presents to the retirees, and additionally awarded Miss Kersiah Mensah – of Aburi Girls Senior High School, and immediate past student of Michel Camp 2 Junior High School – who distinguished herself in the last Basic Education Certificated Examination (BECE), with 8 ones with aggregate 6, and was thus adjudged Best Student of the 2024 BECE horde of 1 Garrison.
Others highly mentioned at the event included the Parent Associations of all schools under 1GEC, NNF ESQUIRE, DON PUBLICATIONS, FLAMINGO PUBLICATIONS, REUBEN’S SERIES, and SPEEDDAD.

Present at the event included a Representative of the Director, Education, GAF – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Isaac Niminga-Beka; Lt Commander Osei Anaso – Eastern Naval Command; Captain Elsie Pokua Manu – Chief Garrison Education Officer; Lt Kingston Nii Lomotey – 1 Infantry Battalion; Officers, Soldiers, Clergymen, Headteachers, Teachers and non-teaching staff of various schools.
