An Induction Religious Parade has been held for the Commanding Officer (CO), 2 Infantry Battalion (2BN) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Edmund Nana Nyarko Osae, to commit him to God’s care, interceding for protection, wisdom, and guidance for him, as he commences the task of ensuring peace and stability in Ghana’s Western and Western North Regions.
The event took place on Friday 15 November 2024, at Calvary Methodist Presbyterian Church, Myohaung Barracks, Takoradi, under the theme “Leading with Purpose”, after the CO took over command on Friday 27 September 2024.

The Western Regional Coordinating Director – Mr Fredrick Agyemang, in a remark on behalf of the Western Regional Minister – Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, said that the Region was a strategic hub hosting critical national assets, hence the need for effective collaboration between the Regional Security Council, and the security services in the region, which is vital in maintaining peace and stability.
He expressed confidence in Lt Col Osae’s leadership, to maintain lasting peace and security in the two regions, while providing adequate protection to valuable national assets, in collaboration with sister security services, and thus urged him to be a pillar of strength to provide the security framework to enable the region thrive.

As the Guest, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command (S/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare urged the Lt Col ENN Osae, to discharge his duties diligently and effectively, to help maintain the peace in the region during, before and after Ghana’s 2024 General Elections.
General Asare urged Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff of the Unit, to rally behind their CO to succeed for the greater good of the country, and further admonished personnel to remain apolitical, and continue to exhibit professionalism, in their duty to their unit and the state.

The Acting Director-General, Religious Affairs (A/DGRA), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Apostle Dr Col Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode led the CO to affirm the Oath of Office, after which he was dedicated to God and availed to the congregation.
Present were Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), and 2 Garrison Commander – Commodore (Cdre) Emmanuel Ayesu Kwafo; FOC, Naval Logistics Command – Cdre Eric Osei; Flag Officer Fleet – Cdre Samuel Ayelazono; Base Commander, Air Force Base; Takoradi – Air Cdre Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo; and Senior Officers.

Others included Officers, the Regimental Sergeant Major, 2BN, Soldiers, representatives from sister security services in the Regions, traditional rulers, Defence Civilian Staff, and family and friends.
