48 ENGR REGT CONDUCTS TRAINING ON NEW ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT

The European Union Commission has donated some engineering equipment comprising a pay loader, backhoe, grader, and 5 inflatable boats with accessories, to the 48 Engineer Regiment (48 ENGR REGT) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The European Union Representatives in collaboration with the 48 Engineer Regiment commenced orientation training on the equipment on Tuesday 4 March 2025 at the Regiment.

The training was aimed at sharpening the skills of plant operators on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

The training began with an official opening ceremony at the 48 Engineer Regiment, with the Guest of Honour, and Commander, 14 Engineer Brigade – Brigadier General ((Brig Gen) Richard Kinney, adviced participants to take keen interest in the training in order to sharpen and enhance their knowledge in the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

Additionally, he entreated all participants to adhere to safety measures associated with the equipment.

The Commanding Officer (CO), 48 Engr Regt – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Frank Osei Amponsah, in his opening remarks, stated that the 2 day orientation training formed key part of his vision of ensuring that the 48 Engineer Regiment remained a premiere Engineer Regiment, providing innovative and effective engineering support to the combat arms, other Services and state agencies.

He added that the training aligns with his strategic objective of improving human resource and the unit’s capacity through realistic training, and therefore, urged participants to tackle the training with the seriousness required in order to ensure a successful training.
