6 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held its Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols bringing together personnel and churches within the Garrison and their families, to celebrate the 2024 Christmas festivities.
The non-denominational service took place on Friday 20 December, 2024 at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, Kamina Barracks, in Tamale, and was graced with the attendance of the Commander, Air Force Base, Tamale – Air Commodore (A/Cdre) Joshua Mensah-Larkai who doubles as the Garrison Commander, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei.

The Garrison Chaplain – Reverend Father Captain Prince Yeboah of the Roman Catholic Church, in his homily, emphasized that the Christmas season was one of love, and urged everyone to show love toward their neighbours, and to use the Christmas season to express gratitude to God for his protection.
Brig Gen FN Tei stated that the significance of Christmas goes beyond merry making to a call to sacrifice, humility and service to mankind.

In thanking the Chaplaincy of the Garrison for their continued support and guidance, General Tei commended Defence Civilian Staff (DCS) for their commitment in making the year 2024 a great success, and encouraged the congregation to constantly seek the face of God in all endeavours.
A/Cdre J Mensah-Larkai stated that 2024 has been demanding on all Units in the Garrison through the conduct of exercises and operations.

He commended all ranks for their dedication and commitment to duties during Operation Peace Trail, adding that despite the challenges encountered with the operations, the diligence of troops ensured that the operation was a success.
He further commended the families of troops for being dependable and supportive, ensuring that their spouses have sound mind to go about their duties.

Present at the event included the Commander, Air Force Training Command – A/Cdre Matthias Awuah; Command Logistics Officer, N/COMD – Colonel John Kwarteng; Commanding Officer, 6 Infantry Battalion – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jerry Ankuyi; Officer-in-Charge, 3 Field Workshop – Lt Col Mariam Yeboaa, Officers, Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff.
There were choral performances from the Air Force Base Choir, 6 Infantry Battalion Choir, 69 Air Borne Force Choir, 93 Signal Regiment Choir, Wives’ Association Choir, as well as choirs from the various churches in Kamina and Barwah Barracks.
