6 GARRISON HOLDS FIRST QUARTER RELIGIOUS PARADE

6 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) held a Non-Denominational Thanksgiving/First Quarter Religious Parade under the auspices of the Garrison Commander – Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Kweku Essien under the theme “The Goodness and Mercies of God”.

The Service at the Air Force Base (AFB), Tamale on Sunday 18 February 2024, was led by Reverend Flight Lieutenant Gershon Dotse, the Chaplain, who admonished that all must be humble and acknowledge the existence of God above men, to allow to continue to enjoy the goodness of God.

Speaking on behalf of the Garrison Commander, the Command Operations Officer, Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo expressed thanks to God first, and to the troops for their sacrifices towards making the N/COMD’s Area of Responsibility safe and secure.

He said N/COMD continues to be the eyes of GAF due to the threats of Violent Extremism and terrorism (VET) from the Sahel regions of bordering the Northern Frontiers of Ghana, and thus expressed appreciation to the troops for their loyalty, dedication and professionalism exhibited so far.

Brig Gen Agbebo stated that despite the challenges being faced by the Command, God has been faithful and His Goodness and Mercies continues to be evident, and that the service was held to thank God, seek His guidance and protection in 2024.

He further cited God’s divine protection over the Garrison throughout 2023, amidst rumours of VET attacks, amidst expectations of more resources to be deployed for duties.

The 6 Garrison Imam – Imam R Abdul Yamusah in his homily, advised all to diligently work hard for God and for their country, and encouraged the troops to be strong in God, and learn from the accounts in the Holy Books, despite the challenges of life.

The occasion was witnessed by the Commander, Airforce Training Command – Air Commodore Matthias Awuah, the Command Logistics Officer, Colonel Francis Kojo Bannerman, Commanding Officers of Units under the Command, and other key staff appointments at the Command Headquarters and the Air Force Base Tamale.
