6 GARRISON HOLDS JOINT INDUCTION SERVICE FOR 4 NEW COMMANDERS

The 6 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held a Joint Induction Religious Service to formally usher into office its four newly-appointed Commanders into office, with a call to Commanders to maintain teamwork, lead with integrity, humility and sacrifice, to achieve a common goal.

The ceremony was held on Sunday 31 August 2025 at the Air Force Base Tamale, with the Northern Regional Minister – Mr Ail Adolf John as the Guest of Honour, and the Director General, Religious Affairs (DGRA) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode as the officiating clergy.

The four commanders are; the Commander, Air Force Base, Tamale (AFB TAM) – Air Commodore (A/Cdre) Nana Adu-Gyamfi; General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD); Brig Gen Franklyn Worlanyo Agbebo; Commander, Air Force Training Command (AFTC) – A/Cdre Richard Danso; and Commanding Officer, 69 Airborne Force (69 ABF) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Evans Komedjah.

The Guest of Honour, in his address stated that, the ceremony carried great significance because it reflects gratitude to God, acknowledges the sacrifices made by service personnel, and symbolizes a rededication to peace and service in the five Northern Regions and beyond.

He extended his gratitude to the Military High Command for their pivotal role in repositioning security in the North, and for their commitment to ensuring that, 6 Garrison remains a strong hold for security, and a bridge between national defence and development.

Delivering his sermon under the theme “Esprit de Corps is a Force Multiplier”, Brig Gen BG Kumi-Woode said that, success in the military is the result of collective will, mutual trust, and shared sacrifice, and thus urged troops to remain loyal to their Commanders, and assist them in achieving their mandates.

In his homily, Imam Abdul Rahim Yamusah of the 6 Garrison Chaplaincy, prayed for divine wisdom, patience and strength for the newly inducted leaders, and stated that leadership is a trust (Amanah) that must be discharged with fairness, in accordance with the will of God, and for the benefit of the people they serve.

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, the 6 Garrison Commander, A/Cdre Adu-Gyamfi pledged their collective commitment to serve with integrity, courage and professionalism, assuring that they would foster inter-service collaboration, and empower troops to maintain peace in the Northern Sector, and to uphold the values of GAF.

The occasion also marked a solemn farewell service for personnel of 69 ABF as they prepare for peacekeeping duties with the Ghanaian Battalion 92 of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

The induction service drew together Generals, Senior Officers, members of the Regional Security Council, the Clergy, Traditional Leaders, and families of service personnel.
