The 6 Garrison as part of efforts by the Ghana Armed Forces took part in the 4th edition of the Green Ghana Day Project on Friday 7 June 2024.
The Green Ghana Day Project was instituted by the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to create enhanced awareness of the necessity for collective action towards restoration of degraded landscape in the country, mitigate the effects of global climate change as well as inculcate the values of planting and nurturing trees and its associate benefits.

This year the 6 Garrison planted over 3000 seedlings of various species of trees which included Acacia, Mango, Coconut, Orange, Teak,Cashew and Mahogany.
The Garrison Commander together with Commanding Officers ensured all units under Command participated in the project.

Addressing troops before the planting ceremony, the Garrison Commander, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai stated that, research shows that Ghana has lost about 24% of its tree cover hence the need to replant more.He further averred that the 6 Garrison has played a vital role in the tree planting project since its inception in 2021 and will continue to support the Initiative.
Present at the ceremony was the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Commander Airforce Training Command, Staff Officers at the Headquarters Northern Command, Commanding Officers and Officers Commanding.
