66 ARTY REGT REIGNITES END-OF-YEAR OFFICERS’ DINNER

In addition to Ghana Army’s 66 Artillery Regiment (66 Arty Regt) annual end-of-year activities, the Officers’ Mess (The Glory Mess) held an Officers’ Dinner – the first of its kind after the COVID 19 pandemic – with the Guest of Honour – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Nicholas Kwami Kporku (Rtd), making a cash donation to support the Unit’s ongoing Young Soldiers’ accommodation project.

The dinner was held on Friday, 19 January 2024, at the Volta Barracks, Ho, to restart a convention which was curtailed by the advent of the COVID 19 pandemic, after the assuagement of the global phenomenon.

In his remarks, Brig Gen NK Kporku (Rtd) indicated that the Glory Mess has been the cradle of professional development of many Artillery Officers, and over the years, it has continuously nurtured and churned out seasoned Officers for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), with beautiful memories, that makes an Officer want to return.

He went ahead to encourage the Commander Rear, 66 Arty Regt – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jalali Din Ibrahim, his Officers and Soldiers, to continue working tirelessly to hold the fort, as he applauded all Officers for a good job done so far, in maintaining the unity and peace that exists among them, to enable them command and lead the Soldiers effectively.

In admonishing Officers to take their professional upgrading and career courses seriously, as they serve as benchmark for their career progression, Brig Gen Kporku further urged All Ranks to be steadfast and discharge their duties with utmost dedication, loyalty, and vigilance, as the times are critical, within which threats of terrorism are getting closer than one could imagine.

The event was graced by seasoned Gunners such as Colonel (Col) Cyril Necku (Rtd); Col Charles Debrah (Rtd); 66 Arty Regt Second-In-Command – Major Felix Opoku; members of the Regional Security Council; and heads of corporate organizations.
