6BN CONDUCTS RANGE WORK EXERCISE

by Kofi Ampeah Woode

Ghana Army’s 6 Infantry Battalion (6Bn) conducted a 3-day Range Work Exercise for its troops to enhance the skills of personnel in weapon handling, firing skills and precision, and to reaffirm commitment to being prepared for the nation’s upcoming 2024 general elections.

The training exercise took place from 5-8 November 2024, at the Army Special Operations Training School (ASOTS), Daboya, in Ghana’s Savannah Region, and climaxed the Unit’s Operation PEACETRAIL Pre-Deployment Training – which was organized for 4 weeks, in conjunction with other security agencies, at Kamina Barracks, Tamale.

The range work would also boost the confidence of troops in weapon handling, especially Young Soldiers, who have not had the opportunity to undergo range practices, after their basic training.

The Commanding Officer, 6Bn – Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Yao Ankuyi, and other key personnel, were present and participated in the exercise, which forms part of the Annual Personal Weapons Test for Soldiers, and is required annually to ascertain the serviceability of the weapons, and to sharpen their skills in firing.

The range work exercise included classifications and selected practices of troops’ personal rifles and pistols.
