The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) of the Ghana Navy, and the 7 Garrison Commander – Commodore (Cdre) Solomon Asiedu-Larbi has paid a week working visit to Military Units and Stakeholders within the 7 Garrison to introduce himself as the new FOC and Garrison Commander, and also to discuss issues of mutual interests.
The tour saw him visit the South Tongu District Assembly, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Ho Technical University, Volta Regional Press Centre, 66 Artillery Regiment, Artillery Training School, the Keta Municipal Assembly and the Aflao Border.

At Sogakope, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for South Tongu, received the FOC and his entourage, and in expressing delight at the visit, also assured Cdre S Asiedu-Larbi of the support of the Assembly in the discharge of the duties of personnel in the District.
The Volta Regional Minister – Dr Archibald Yao Letsa received the FOC and Garrison Commander to the Regional Coordinating Council, and stated that the visit was welcoming as it strengthens the existing cooperation with the Military, and assured that issues of concern to NAVTRAC, were receiving serious attention by government.

Cdre Asiedu-Larbi was warmly received at the Ho Technical University (HTU) by the Vice Chancellor – Prof Honyenuga who stated that the University has had great collaboration with the Supply Application School under NAVTRAC, in the training of personnel of the Ghana Navy, and was hopeful this collaboration would extend to the Army and Air Force, and hinted of plans to organise academic programmes to enhance the capacity of Instructors at the School.
The FOC also visited the Regional Secretariat of the Volta/Oti Chapter of the Ghana Journalist Association, where he held a brief meeting with the Regional Executives and some senior journalists in the Region.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Volta/Oti Chapter of the Association – Mr Emmanuel Agbaxode stated that the long standing relationship between the Association and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has been enhanced by the visit, and called for a closer collaboration even as Ghana’s 2024 General Elections approaches.

On his part Cdre Asiedu-Larbi said he was happy to be at the Regional Press Centre and assured that requests made by the Association would be considered.
At the Volta Barracks, Cdre Asiedu-Larbi inspected a special Quarter Guard formed by personnel of the 66 Artillery Regiment, after which he was briefed by the Commander Rear (Comd/R) 66 Artillery Regiment – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jalali Din Ibrahim, and the Acting Chief Instructor of the Artillery Training School – Major (Maj) KD Sekyi.
He then held a brief durbar with troops of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Artillery Training School, the Air Force Detachment at the Ho Airport, and Defence Civilian staff of the Garrison, and asked them to be committed to the work, urging them to be good ambassadors of the Ghana Armed Forces, even as the 2024 general elections approached.

After touring the Akoefe Training Camp, Home of the Artillery Training School, Cdre Asiedu-Larbi went to the Keta Municipal Assembly, where the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), stated that security along the Coast was of prime importance to the Assembly as the general elections approached.
Next was the Aflao Border, where he was briefed by the Naval Detachment, and operatives of Operation Sit-Down-Look, and inspected the Aflao Maritime Operations Center, after which he called on the Aflao Sector Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service.

Other members of the FOC entourage were Naval Captain Raymond Kyaano – Commanding Officer, School of Maritime Operations; Naval Captain Theophilos Agbemabiese – Training Coordinator, NAVTRAC; Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr) Frederick Kutsoati – Commanding Officer, Supply Application School Lt Cdr Felix Tsepketse – Commanding Officer, Naval Base, Nutepkor; Fleet Chief Petty Officeer (FCPO) I Afeku Godfred – Command Coxswain, and Charles Annang Command – Garrison Public Relations Officer.
