Ghana Army’s 66 Artillery Regiment has participated in a vigil and wreathe laying ceremony, in honour of eight persons who perished through a military helicopter crash.
At the event held on Sunday 10 August 2025 at the Nfojo Park in Ho, the Regional Capital of the Volta Region, the Commanding Officer, 66 Artillery Regiment – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jalali Din Ibrahim laid a wreath on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces.


Other dignitaries such as the Volta Regional Minister – Mr James Gunu laid a wreath on behalf of the President and the people of the Volta Region; Togbe Adanu X – Paramount Chief of Goviefe Traditional Area laid a wreath on behalf of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs; and Dr Hintemann KK Mbroh – Chief Executive of the Ho Teaching Hospital, laid the final wreath on behalf of Health Workers in the Volta Region.
The military helicopter crash occurred on Wednesday 6 August 2025, with the victims being the Minister for Defence – Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment – Dr Alhaji Murtala Mohammed; Third Vice President of the National Democratic Congress – Mr Samuel Sarpong; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Mr Samuel Aboagye – former Parliamentary Candidate;


The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
