GAF COMMISSIONS NEW CDS OFFICE BUILDING COMPLEX

After effectively providing Operations, Administration and Logistics services from precolonial structures for over seven decades, Ghana’s Military finally acquired and commissioned an office complex befitting the status of the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), to help provide direction for the execution of the mandate of the Armed Forces, in accordance with the Constitution of Ghana.

On Wednesday 1 February, 2023, the new 3-storey complex which replaced the old one (which aforetime served as the Ministry of Defence) on the same location, was outdoored by the Commander-in-Chief of the GAF – His Excellency (HE) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Office of the CDS now consists of 50 office spaces, conference rooms, meeting rooms, coffee rooms, kitchenettes, lounges, reception and waiting areas, outdoor socializing and ceremonial terrace, store rooms, state-of-the-art finishes, Information Technology systems, video conferencing, and close-circuit-television (CCTV) systems among others.

HE President Akufo-Addo stated that the new office complex was made possible by the foresight and efforts of the immediate-past CDS of GAF – HE Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa (Rtd), now Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt and the current CDS – Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, in partnership with the developer – Goldkey Properties Ltd.

In addition to the commissioning of the new office complex, the C-In-C cut the sod for the construction of a 3-storey 90-room Office Complex (the old precolonial block has 18 offices) for the General Headquarters Personnel and Administration and other Senior Officers, through Public Private Partnership arrangement, between MUSTEK Engineering Ltd and GAF, and is expected to be completed in 18 months.
