COAS VISITS HELLENIC ARMY OF GREECE

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Major General (Maj Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has attended the 3-day Defence Exhibition Athens (DEFEA) – an international Defence exhibition – as part of an invitation to visit Greece’s Hellenic Army.

The COAS’ visit to Athens, from 9-11 May 2023, was at the behest of Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Angelos Choudeloudis – Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff. The two Generals discussed military collaboration centred on military training, courses and logistics, and the host expressed the Hellenic Army’s preparedness to offer training assistance to the GAF.

At DEFEA – a high-profile international defence exhibition where international companies present land, naval, aerospace, national and cyber security defence systems, which also took place on 9-11 May 2023 – the COAS, accompanied by Brigadier General Charles Agyemang-Prempeh – General Officer Commanding, Ghana Army’s Central Command, was briefed on a wide range of modern military equipment.

DEFEA is organised under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, with the cooperation of the Hellenic Manufacturers Association of Defence Material of Greece – Ghana’s version of the Defence Industrial Holding Company (DIHOC).

The exposition was officially said to have seen 315 Exhibitors from 22 countries, 12,129 visitors from 54 countries, 45 official delegations, 14 Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Defence, and 13 Chiefs of Armed Forces.
