Ghana Air Force Training Command (AFTRAC), Tamale has rounded off its 7-week intensive training programme, EXERCISE EAGLE CALL, which was aimed at enhancing operational competencies of the Flight Cadets of Ghana Military Academy Regular Career Course Intake 63 (RCC 63), in air operations within joint land and maritime environments.
The closing ceremony of EX EAGLE CALL ’24, which ended on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, was graced by the Commander, Air Force Base, Tamale – Air Commodore (A/Cdre) Joshua Mensah-Larkai, who lauded the Cadets for their resilience, discipline, and determination throughout the exercise.

The training emphasized helicopter operations and covered key areas such as helipad construction, helicopter vectoring, marshalling, and air transport operations.
“You have been exposed to a broad range of subjects, from air power theory to practical fieldwork, demonstrating proficiency in battlefield liaison, air defence systems, close-quarter battle techniques, and map marking,” he remarked.
A/Cdre Mensah-Larkai further praised the instructors for their expertise and dedication, which ensured the smooth execution of the program despite challenges such as harsh weather conditions.
Commander, AFTRAC – A/Cdre Mathias Awuah, in an address, highlighted that EX EAGLE CALL was designed to equip cadets with the knowledge and skills, to seamlessly integrate air operations into joint maritime and land operations.

He emphasized on the significance of the final field training exercise – EX NORTHERN SHIELD, which tested the cadets’ ability to apply their training, in a practical environment.
A/Cdre Awuah commended the cadets for their enthusiasm and discipline during the exercise and expressed optimism that the knowledge gained would be pivotal in their future military endeavours.
As the trailblazers for EX EAGLE CALL, the Flight Cadets of RCC 63 presented a plaque to AFTRAC, as a memoir of their training.
