ANGLOGOLD CUTS SOD FOR 200-BED ACCN FOR APOTS

The Ghana Army (GA) and AngloGold Ashanti Company Ltd have held an earth-breaking ceremony for the construction of a 200-bed accommodation for the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) at the Battle Training Camp, Bundase.

On Thursday, 19 January 2023, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General (Maj Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah stated that the project was a request he made to the company in line with his vision of expanding, resourcing, training and motivating troops into the desired Army, capable of delivery on its tasks.

He added that the facility would put APOTS in a better stead to contribute to the overall vision, especially in Staff Expansion, appropriate accommodation and quality training.

The Senior Manager in charge of Security at AngloGold – Mr Kofi Gamor, who represented the Chief Executive Officer – Mr Eric Asubonteng, lauded the Army as a trusted and capable partner in the conduct of the company’s activities.

He said that the management acceded to the request of the COAS to fund the accommodation project, as part of their corporate social responsibility and the healthy relationship, netween their organization and the Ghana Army.

The General Manager of the constructing company – Geoplast Ghana – Mr FKO Bonsu, promised to deliver the project in 6 months without compromising quality.

Present at the ceremony were Deputy Chief of Staff (Logistics) (GHQ) – Maj Gen Prince Osei-Owusu, Chief Staff Officer, Army – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Charles Agyemang-Prempeh, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Logistics) Brig Gen Kenneth Kweku Kwaah Kumi, Commander APOTS – Colonel C Dingane and Senior Staff Officers from both the General Headquarters and Army Headquarters.
