The Commander, Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Richard Kwame Mensah, has paid Operational visits to the 69 Airborne Force (69 ABF) in Tamale, and the Army Special Operations Training School (ASOTS), Daboya, to familiarise himself with the operations, capabilities and challenges of the Units under his command.
Brig Gen RK Mensah was received by the Commanding Officer (CO), 69 ABF – Colonel Louis Boakye on Wednesday 28 May 2025 at the Bawa Barracks, and the CO, ASOTS – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ernest Darkwah at Daboya, on Thursday 29 May 2025, respectively.

During the visit, the Brigade Commander was given a comprehensive brief on the operational structure, training programmes, administrative and logistical needs of the Units, which highlighted the Unit’s contribution to internal security operations, and rapid response capabilities, in support of national defence, especially amid the ongoing threat of terrorism and chieftaincy disputes in the area of interest.
As part of his itinerary, Brig Gen Mensah paid a courtesy call on the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brig Gen Frank Nartey Tei, and inspected key installations and facilities in the Unit, including the Medical Reception Station (MRS), Mechanical Transport Yard, and accommodation blocks.


He also interacted with troops, and commended them for their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to respond to emerging security threats.
The Brigade Commander was accompanied by ASOB’s Chief Logistics Officer – Colonel Andrew Awuni, and the Chief Training Officer – Colonel Michael Mintah-Agyemang.
