BAWKU MP PRAISES GHANA’S MILITARY FOR PEACEFUL POLLS & MILITARY INFRASTRUCTURE

Ghana’s Military High Command (MHC) has been lauded for great military infrastructural provision in the Upper East Region, while soldiers of 11 Mechanized Battalion (11 Mech Bn) have been praised for their part played as members of the Election Security Joint Task Force, in ensuring peaceful elections at Bawku, during the country’s 2024 general elections.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central – Mr Mahama Ayariga made the comments as Guest of Honour during the maiden annual West African Soldiers’ Social Activities (WASSA) of Ghana Army’s 11 Mechanized Battalion (11 Mech Bn) – Home of Hawks, which took place on Friday 17 January 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region.

Delivering his address, Mr Ayariga promised to be an advocate for the improvement of military infrastructure within the region, at an event which was held with several recreational events, and had a newly built Quarter-Guard for the Unit commissioned.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei, in his remarks stated that, owing to the discipline and dedication of soldiers in the Command, the entire northern sector of the country remained peaceful during the 2024 general elections.

He applauded soldiers of the Command for their hard work, and thanked Mr Ayariga, on behalf of 11 Mech Bn, for his enormous support. Awards were given to deserving soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff.

In his welcome address, the Commander Rear, 11 Mech Bn – Lieutenant Colonel – Kakra Sasu-Antwi extolled the good work of the Commanding Officers (CO) preceding him, and thanked soldiers for their service to the nation, through their selfless sacrifices, dedication and devotion to the country, for which they will forever be celebrated by many generations to come.

Key personalities present at the function included CO, 12 Mech Bn – Lt Col Frederick Amankwah; Regional Police Commander, Upper East Region – Deputy Commissioner of Police Raymond Adofiem; Regional Commander, National Investigations Bureau – Mr Emmanuel Owusu; and Area Head, Church of Pentecost, Bolgatanga – Apostle David Amankwah.
