As part of activities commemorating Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary celebrations, an international tennis competition was played between the Burma Camp Tennis Club (BCTC) and the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Country Club of Nigeria, in which the Ghanaian club won all five games at 7-5, 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2.

The 11th edition of the annual IBB-BCTC International Tennis Friendly Tournament was held on Saturday 8 March 2025, at the BCTC Centre, Burma Camp, Accra, with scintillating tennis fixtures of singles, doubles and mixed duels.

The hottest fixture was one between Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Dr Felix Asante – Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), General Headquarters (GHQ), and Mr Patrick Barama Eta, which saw the former, digging deep into his tenacity to ward off the competitor on the BCTC clay court at 7-5.

Speaking in an interview, AVM F Asante, who is the President, BCTC, said the purpose of the international friendlies – which has a golf component between IBB Country Club and the Achimota Golf Club – is to share comradeship and brotherhood, beyond playing games, and has yielded bonds growing from strength to strength.
