The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has assured Anglogold Ashanti of the military’s continued support in providing security for their operations.
The CDS said this role was important because of the vested interest of the Government of Ghana in AngloGold.

He made this remark when a delegation from Anglogold Ashanti, led by the Senior Vice President, Mr Eric Asubonteng, paid a courtesy call on the CDS at the General Headquarters on Friday, 21 June 2024.
Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah expressed gratitude for AngloGold Ashanti’s support in constructing a 200-bed accommodation unit at the Army Peacekeeping Operation Training School at Bundase.

He noted that the completion of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Obuasi would enhance security in the area and beyond.
Mr Asubonteng in his remarks, praised the GAF for providing security to the company’s personnel and installations and pledged to help complete the first phase of the FOB in Obuasi this year.
