Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has commissioned a 32-unit accommodation block for Base Ordnance Depot (BOD) Young Soldiers, and a gymnasium for Army Ordnance Services, at El-wak Barracks, Accra.
At the commissioning on Wednesday 18 September 2024, Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah stated that the project symbolizes progress, growth and collective effort towards a common goal, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, and noting that such projects showcase tremendous potential, when working together with a shared objective.
He added that, the gym would also enhance personnel’s physical fitness, particularly for those unable to participate in regular training, due to medical reasons.
The accommodation block, named after the Chief of Staff, General Headquarters, GAF – Major General Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, aims at helping to address the housing deficit for Young Soldiers in GAF’s 5 Garrison.
