CDS INSPECTS GAF-BUILT SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has inspected tactical surveillance equipment, which included a Mobile Command Trailer manufactured by the Corps of Signals, in partnership with Soko Aerial Robotics Ltd.

The equipment inspected on Saturday, 17 February 2024, at the 1 Signal Regiment, Burma Camp, Accra, also included a multi-purpose tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to enhance the surveillance and communication operations of the military in every aspect of its operations.

The Mobile Command Trailer facility is a comprehensive tactical communication and surveillance vehicle designed and built locally by the Corps of Signals, under the aegis of the Commander, 17 Signal Brigade – Brigadier General Anthony Ntem.

General Oppong-Peprah spoke of his commitment to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of GAF, assuring the provision of relevant equipment, and supporting the manufacture of requisite logistics needed to improve operational capabilities of Services and Units.

He hinted of deploying the vehicle along the country’s borders, especially in the northern frontier, where potential extremist threat is high, and said that it would enhance the kinetic and non-kinetic operations of the military, in the effort of protecting the country.
