The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, hosted the Commander-in-Chief (C-In-C) of GAF, the Ministers of Defence, Lands and Natural Resources, and Greater Accra Region, amongst other dignitaries, to plant trees, in commemoration of the 2024 Green Ghana Day celebration.
The occasion, which was held under the theme “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow”, took place on Friday, 7 June 2024, at the Nicholson Stadium, Burma Camp, in Accra, with the President of Ghana and C-in-C of GAF – His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the Guest of Honour.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources – Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, commended GAF for their commitment to the Green Ghana initiative since its inception in 2021.
He stated that the project aims to combat deforestation, promote environmental sustainability, and contribute with the global fight against climate change.

He added that this year’s Green Ghana Day targets the planting and growth of 10 million trees across the country, highlighting that GAF seeks to plant 1,000 trees.
