The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has advocated peaceful collaborations with other security agencies.
He made the call during his maiden visit to the Army Training Command (ATRAC) and Army Combat Training School (ACTS) on Thursday, 4 April 2024.
The visit was aimed at officially introducing the COAS to troops, and familiarising himself with the activities and operations of the Command.

In an All Ranks Durbar with troops, he underscored the relevance of fostering synergy and mutual respect among Ghana’s diverse security apparatus, adding that a unified front among security agencies is indispensable in effectively addressing modern-day security challenges.
“The era of viewing fellow security agencies as enemies is over. We must embrace a culture of collaboration, recognising the invaluable contributions each agency brings to the table” he added.
He also took the opportunity to inform troops about his vision which is “to maintain a cohesive, well-motivated and well-rounded Army capable of undertaking its mission of national defence with professionalism as part of the Ghana Armed Forces”.

In a momentous exchange of strategic insights and operational updates, the Commander, ATRAC (CATRAC) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Stephen Woseadzipko Kweku Parbey had the distinct honour of briefing COAS on their Operational, Administration, Logistics and Welfare issues.
He highlighted some challenges of the Command and requested that the Army Headquarters assist them with some additional resources.

Not far from the Commander’s plea, the Commander, ACTS – Colonel (Col) Robert Narh elaborated the immediate needs of the school during his brief.
As part of the visit, the COAS and his entourage toured some selected areas earmarked for projects.
They also witnessed a demonstration of a simulation firing at the school’s simulation room.
