COL WIAFE ASSUMES COMMAND OF DIRECTORATE OF ENGR SERVICES

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Directorate of Engineer Services, has held a program for the Handing/Taking Over of Command from its Director – Colonel (Col) Abednego Eclaircie Shooter to Col Jonas Wiafe, and also commissioned a State-of-the-Art Conference Hall for the Directorate.

The ceremony was held at Burma Camp on Friday, 1 September 2023, with Major General (Maj Gen) Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu – Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), Logistics, of the General Headquarters of GAF, as the Guest of Honour.

General Osei-Owusu praised Col Shooter for the outstanding growth and achievements witnessed within the Directorate, and highlighted the unwavering dedication and visionary leadership of Col Shooter, which, he said, has elevated the Directorate to new heights.

In his address, Col Shooter revealed that his primary goal during his tenure was to ensure the completion of the Directorate’s office block, providing comfortable accommodation for all workers, along with a conference facility befitting an Engineer Unit.

Col Shooter completed the office block early since the frame was already in place, remodeled the old structure of the Orderly Room and Meeting Room into the Conference facility, with the help of the architects and engineers of the Directorate.

The outgone Director stated that the Conference Complex christened “HOLDFAST,” has two magnificent conference halls; with the larger one comfortably seating a minimum of 40 persons around a table, and can accommodate up to 85 individuals with full air-condition, modern audio-visual equipment, captivating lighting, and plush seating arrangements.

The second hall, known as the Director’s Hall, is a more intimate space, seating 15 persons with comfortable seating and world-class audio-visual settings. He noted, these two halls provide the Directorate with an ideal environment to host meetings and facilitate productive discussions.
