COMMISSIONER GENERAL GHANA BOUNDARY COMMISSION URGES PARLIAMENT’S SUPPORT

The Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) – Major General (Maj Gen) Emmanuel Wekem Kotia has called on Ghana’s House of Parliament to support the Commission, in a presentation to the Committee of the Whole of the Parliament.

During his presentation to Parliament on 26 June 2024, he reiterated the importance of the work of the Commission in securing the international land and maritime boundaries of Ghana.

General Kotia also highlighted the need for Parliament to expedite the passage of a new Act for the Commission, and other Legislative frameworks for the effective running of the Commission.

The Commissioner-General also appealed to the Ghanaian Parliament to support a special funding formula for Ghana’s boundary commission.

The Members of Parliament were full of praise for the Commission, and commended the GhBC for its diligent work over the years, underscoring the significance of clear and well-defined boundaries for attaining the national security and stability of Ghana.
