The Director General (DG), Department of Defence Civilian Establishment (DDCE), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Charles Kweku Budu-Kumi, has handed over command to Brig Gen Christopher Yaw Dagadu.

The Transfer-of-Authority ceremony was held on Thursday 8 May 2025, at the Headquarters, DDCE, General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, and sees Brig Gen CK Budu-Kumi assuming the Chief Coordinator appointment at Ghana’s National Defence University (NDU), thus switching positions with General Dagadu, who held that position, previously.

Coincidentally, the two Generals are mates who were admitted into the Ghana Military Academy in 1992.

The Defence Civilian Staff, presenting a parting gift to the outgone DG, also presented to him a citation which touted Brig Gen CK Budu-Kumi as visionary leader who has left an indelible mark on the DDCE, despite his rather short stay of 3 months and 28 days at office.

They acknowledge him as a teacher who imparted knowledge through his law lectures, providing free legal advice during meetings, durbars and padre hours, and also demonstrating integrity and passion to defend the vulnerable, with a dedication to excellence, which has inspired all his charges.

Present at the event included the Deputy Director General, DDCE – Colonel (Col) William Kofi Karikari; Deputy Commander, 16 Artillery Brigade – Col Edward Sarpong Appiah; Resident Minister, Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church – Reverend Thomas Addo; Officers, Defence Civilian Staff, and representatives of Nationwide Medical Insurance Company.
