The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has broken ground for the commencement of the redevelopment of Duala Barracks in Burma Camp, Accra.

The project – whose sod was cut on Wednesday 17 July 2024 – when completed, would sit on a 15-acre land, comprising a 13-block, 3-storey, 2-bedroom accommodation and would serve as housing for about 156 families.

The Commander Support Services Command – Brigadier General Selassie Gagakuma, in his opening remarks, lauded the CDS for his sterling leadership in the welfare of personnel and enumerated several projects he had undertaken to facelift Burma Camp, within a short spate of time.

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah mentioned that the project would seek to minimize the accommodation deficit in Burma Camp.

He revealed that the first phase of the project was expected to be completed within six months, as proposed by the Chief Executive Officer of Imperial Homes Limited – Mr Francis Biney, the developer of the project.
