ESSMGB GHANCOY 1 CHURCH DONATES TO ORPHANAGE IN HAFIA-BISSAU

The Non-Denomination Church of the Ghanaian Combat Team serving with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB GHANCOY 1) has donated assorted items to Orphanage-Casa Emmanuel at Hafia in Bissau.

The donation was made on Wednesday 5 July 2023, and the items were received by the Director of the orphanage – Isabel Johannino, who was assisted by her Administrator –Eugenia Castro.

The Team, made up of selected members of the GHANCOY Church was led by the GHANCOY Civil Military Relations (CIMIC) Officer – Major (Maj) Nelson Ampah, who made the donation, which forms part of the series of Local Community Engagement (LCE)/CIMIC initiatives by the Combat Team Commander (CT Comd) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) David Korsah, to win the hearts and minds of the local populace within Bissau.

During the donation, the CIMIC Officer on behalf of the CT Comd expressed profound gratitude to all members of the Ghanaian Combat Team who contributed towards this donation, and stated that their unwavering commitment to service extends beyond duties on the ‘battlefield’, but also encompasses the shared responsibility they have towards the well-being of the society as well, especially, its most vulnerable members.

The Director of the orphanage mentioned that the occasion was truly special because it was a celebration of an extraordinary act of compassion and solidarity. She further expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the orphanage to the entire ESSMGB mission, particularly GHANCOY 1.

The items presented were bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, soaps, packs of toilet rolls, biscuits, soft drinks and washing powder.
