The Ghanaian Combat Team serving with the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB GHANCOY 1) donated Educational Materials to the Ministry of Education, Guinea-Bissau. The donation took place on Monday 19 June 2023 at the premises of the Ministry of Education, Bissau.
The team, which was made up of the Combat Team Commander (CT Comd), CIMIC Team and selected Officers and Soldiers donated ESSMGB GHANCOY 1 branded text books, mathematical sets, exercise books, pens and pencils for Primary and Junior High Schools.
The items were presented by the leader of the team and CT Comd, Lieutenant Colonel David Korsah to Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Education, Mrs Monica Buaro da Costa in the presence of the Chief of Cabinet, Mr Antonio Sence, Director General of Human Resources Mr Moisets da Silva, Director General in Charge of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Paulo CO as well as the Secretary General, Mr Bernard Pinto and some selected school children.
The CT Comd remarked that the donation was part of series of Local Community Engagement initiatives by the Unit to strengthen the bond between the contingent and local populace in line with the ESSMGB CIMIC plan.
The Minister of Education appreciated GHANCOY 1 and the entire ESSMGB Force for supporting the ministry with the items. She further stated that her doors are always open to the Ghanaian contingent as well as other ESSMGB contingents and other organisations in Guinea-Bissau for further engagements.
