In a gesture of deep appreciation and solidarity, the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, represented by Major General (Maj Gen) Tomas Djassi honoured personnel of ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) Ghanaian Company 3 (GHANCOY 3) during a memorable ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Bissau.
The ceremony held on Wednesday 30 July 2025, served as a mark of honour and recognition for GHANCOY 3’s exceptional professionalism, commitment to duty, and contribution to national stability and regional peace.

The Ghanaian contingent has been instrumental in providing security at key installations and protecting high profile dignitaries, including the Presidency, under the mandate of ECOWAS.
As part of the ceremony, a Certificate of Merit was presented to the Combat Team Commander, ESSMGB – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Gabriel Mawuli Agboado by Guinea-Bissau’s Presidential Security Advisor, who is also the Chief of Staff at the Presidency – Maj Gen Tomas Djassi, demonstrating the country’s sincere appreciation for the exemplary execution of the mission.

The Certificate symbolizes the country’s gratitude for the discipline, dedication, and outstanding service demonstrated by the Ghanaian peacekeepers.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Djassi commended the Ghanaian troops for their professionalism, coordination, and unwavering support to the mission.

He mentioned that the tokens represent more than souvenirs, but are also symbols of shared commitment to peace and friendship.
Receiving the honors on behalf of the contingent, Lt Col GM Agboado expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Presidency for the kind gesture.

He thanked them for working hand in hand with the Ghanaian peacekeepers, and reaffirmed the contingent’s continued readiness to support the objectives of the ESSMGB, and the government of Guinea-Bissau.
Present at the occasion were other key personalities in charge of security at the Presidency namely; Col Benedito Mendes; Commander Sam-Na Bum Nabarra, Maj Ali Djata, among others.
