The Commanding Officer (CO), 2 Infantry Battalion (2Bn) of the Ghana Army – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Daniel Atobrah Bondah, has admonished all personnel of his Unit, to celebrate the end of year festivities in moderation.

Lt Col DA Bondah gave the admonition to the Myohaung family during the Battalion’s 2023 Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which took place at the Apambire Square, Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo, Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana, on Friday 22 December 2023.

The CO explained that doing things in moderation would ensure a balance in one’s life; which would, in turn, lead to professionalism and success in all endeavours, as well as put one right with God the Creator.

He underscored the need to appreciate the goodness and mercies that God had bestowed on the Unit and its Officers, Soldiers, Defence Civilian Staff and families during the year, and prayed that the Unit would continue to receive God’s beneficence.

Lt Col Bondah took the opportunity to present an award (undisclosed cash prize) and plague to Charlie Company of the Unit for emerging winners, in the Cleanest Company in the Battalion’s Routine Barracks Inspections in June and December 2023.

Reverend Thomas Kwasi Addo from the Arakan Methodist Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp, Accra, who was the preacher for the celebration, and sermonized on the theme, “The Incarnation of Christ”, posited that God had sent His Son Christ Jesus into the world to redeem humanity from the shackles of sin, so that He might reconcile the world unto Himself through Christ, not counting human’s iniquities against them.

He asked, “If Christ returns today, what account would you render unto Him“, and pointed out that God requires humans to establish good relationships with their neighbours, superiors, colleagues, and spouses through the virtues of honesty and truthfulness, in all endeavours.

Furthermore, Rev Thomas Addo stated that Christians should learn to pray, do the works of God and also serve humankind according to the talents that He has endowed them with, as he prayed for God to help the Myohaung fraternity to remain faithful.

As part of the celebration, a singing competition was held for Companies of the Battalion – Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Support and Headquarters, as well as Defence Civilian Staff team – with Alpha Company being adjudged the winner of the contest, as the Defence Civilian Staff and Headquarters Company, took second and third positions, respectively.
