A two-week Officers’ Promotion preparation cadre for 32 Officers/candidates of Ghana Armed Forces’ (GAF) 6 Garrison, has come to an end, with a call upon the candidates to esteem the promotion examination (PROMEX) at this stage of their professional military carrier.

Speaking to the cadre at its closing ceremony on Friday 31 March 2023 at 6 Infantry Battalion’s (6Bn) Kamina Barracks, Tamale, the Command Operations Officer (COO), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Colonel (Col) Franklyn Worlanyo Kwasi Agbebo, said until a new system is devised, PROMEX remains the only criterion for assessing GAF Officers into higher ranks, from Lieutenant (Lt) to Captain (Capt), and from Capt to Major (Maj).
Col FWK Agbebo further asked the candidates to prioritise their schedules, in order to have enough time for both individual studies and group discussions, and to share knowledge; since they are not competing against each other, and concluded with well-wishes from the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD – Brigadier General Matthew Kweku Essien, who doubles as the Garrison Commander.

The 32 prospective candidates from 6Bn, 10 and 11 Mechanized Battalions, 69 Airborne Force and Air Force Base, Tamale, were revised with lectures, discussions and written tests in Military Law, Military History, Current Affairs, Tactics, Administration and Morale, with the cadre concluding with a 3-day Field Training Exercise (FTE).
