GAF CDS APPLAUDS ALL RANKS FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE IN 2024

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has commended Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff of GAF, for their outstanding performance in defending Ghana’s territorial integrity, over the past one year.

Speaking at the end-of-year Religious Church Parade held at Burma Hall on Friday, 20 December 2024, Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah praised the professional posture exhibited by personnel of GAF in various operational theatres, both local and international.

He also acknowledged their assistance to sister security services, in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere during Ghana’s 2024 general elections.

The CDS noted that, the year was ending on a positive note for GAF, citing notable achievements such as the appointment of Major General (Maj Gen) Anita Asmah as the first African female Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

He also revealed that GAF had acquired the largest ship in its history, which would serve the purpose of ressuply of troops in mission areas.

Furthermore, he announced that on Thursday, 19 December 2024, at the Jubilee House (the Seat of Government), GAF received a Presidential Charter for the National Defence University (NDU), to award Diploma and Degree Certificates.

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah expressed gratitude to personnel for their resilience and positive posture towards work, emphasizing the importance of giving thanks with a grateful heart.

He also thanked God for the safety of troops deployed to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), amidst ongoing security challenges between Israeli and Hezbollah forces.
