The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah hosted the Army Sports Teams at his official residence, in fulfillment of his promise last Christmas.
Speaking to them during the party on Saturday 10 February 2024, the CDS urged the team to continue to win more laurels for the Army, saying, it was very difficult staying at the top than getting there, and thus urged them to work harder in order to stay at the top.
The CDS, when he was the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) revived the Army Sports, provided for their logistical, sustenance and motivational needs, causing them to win 193 trophies and medals, from 2022 to January 2024, locally and internationally.
It was in this vein that the CDS, then COAS, promised to fete them, and although he was promoted to be the Defence Chief of Ghana in February, he kept his word to the Army team and held the soiree to laud their achievements.
