GAF CDS VISITS FAIR WAGES COMMISSION

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has stated that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), under his command, will continue to collaborate with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to enhance the welfare of personnel.

He said this when he, together with his principal Staff Officers, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commission – Mr Benjamin Arthur at his office at Labone, Accra, on Monday, 15 April 2024.

The CDS commended him for the support the GAF has benefited from the Commission, and therefore called for enhanced cooperation going forward.

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah also used the opportunity to commiserate with Mr Arthur on the passing of his mother.

The CEO expressed appreciation to the CDS for the visit, disclosing it was the first time a CDS visited the Commission.

He therefore assured of his willingness to collaborate further with the GAF in accordance with the remit of the constitution.

He stated that the sacrifices personnel in the GAF make in global security and in defence of Ghana cannot be overemphasized.

The CDS’ entourage included the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Maj Gen Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Air Vice Marshal Michael Appiah-Agyekum, Defence Financial Comptroller, Brig Gen DK Amissah and Director General (Records), Brig Gen J Vander-Pallen.
