The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has commissioned a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Tilli, in the Bawku Municipality, a Unit Band and a Badminton Court at the 11 Mechanized Battalion (11 Mech Bn) Headquarters, Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region, in operational readiness.

The commissioning took place on Monday, 23 May, 2022, when the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General (Maj Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) – Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Frank Hanson, visited the Northern Command (N/COMD) as part of measures to ascertain the operational readiness and logistics state of Units in the Garrison.

General Oppong-Peprah commended the military personnel for their efforts at providing security in the upper regions of Ghana, and reminded all security personnel in those areas to be extra vigilant and ever alert, since security threats were real and closer to them, adding that GAF owes the country and its citizens the duty of keeping them safe and secured at all times.

The delegation included the General Officer Commanding (GOC), N/COMD – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Mohammed Moses Aryee and Staff Officers from both the Army Headquarters and the N/COMD Headquarters.
