GAF RETIRED OFFICERS’ EXECUTIVES CONFER WITH COAS

Executives of the Retired Commissioned Officers’ Association (RCOA) have paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona to officially congratulate and wish him well on his new appointment.

On Tuesday, 2 April 2024 at the Army Headquarters, Burma Camp, the President of the association and leader of the delegation – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yanyi-Akofur (Rtd) stated that the visit was also convened with the aim of leveraging the expertise and insights of the retired military Officers, signalling a proactive approach towards addressing contemporary challenges facing the Armed Forces.

Brig Gen Yanyi-Akofur took the opportunity to discuss matters relating to security, both internally and externally, to help fight emerging security threats around the country, and highlighted the importance of recognizing invaluable contributions made by the retired Officers in shaping the trajectory of national security.

The COAS in response, outlined the invaluable contributions of retired Officers to the nation’s defence and security, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the delegation for their kind words and advice.

Maj Gen Onwona promised to work with all stakeholders to keep the country safe from external threats, and further assured of the Military High Command’s support at all times, especially with welfare issues.
