The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) 2023 Counterterrorism and Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CT-CIED) course, designed to expose uniformed and civilian personnel working within the security sector to combat terrorism for continued peace and security of Africa nations, has rounded off.
The military college’s one week CT-CIED course ended on Thursday 27 July 2023, with a call by the Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony – Mr Thomas Svanikier – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Svani Group of Companies, for a steadfast commitment, unparalleled cooperation and a collective effort from security services and all individuals with knowledge and skills, to effectively address the threat of terrorism and improvised explosive devices (IED).

He said the course had equipped participants with the tools needed to tackle the complex challenges presented by terrorism and IEDs, as they have been immersed in an environment rich with expertise, best practices, and hands-on experiences, going beyond theoretical learning, engaging in practical exercises that further honed their abilities to anticipate, detect, and neutralize terrorist threats.
He concluded that the fight against terrorism is not confined within walls, nor does it conclude with the completion of the course, but a lifelong commitment, requiring continuous collaboration, innovation, adaptability, vigilance, staying informed and connected, with the global community of those engaged in the mission.

Present at the course’s closing ceremony included GAFCSC’s Deputy Commandant – Brigadier General Abass Seidu, Assistant Commandant – Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, Director of Academic Affairs – Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, Chief Coordinator – Colonel Maxwell Mantey, Course Director, Chief Instructors, Senior Research Fellows, Directing Staff, and Resource Persons.
