GERMAN ARMED FORCES ASSURES GAF COAS OF CONTINUED SUPPORT

The Head of Mission for the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Andreas Heselschwerdt, has assured the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of GAF, of GAFTAG’s continuous support in equipping and strategically positioning Ghana’s military to address internal security issues and external threats.

Lt Col Heselschwerdt made this known when he visited GAF’s COAS – Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, at his office at Burma Camp, in Accra, on Tuesday, 9 July 2024, with deliberations on matters of mutual concern.

General Onwona acknowledged GAFTAG’s significant contributions in equipping GAF, and expressed appreciation for the support, as he also emphasized the need for targeted capacity building initiatives to empower the Ghana Army, especially, the Engineer Corps to enable them effectively support national development projects.

The COAS also urged the Head of GAFTAG to explore opportunities for GAF personnel to participate in training courses in Germany, aimed at enhancing their expertise and skills.

As a gesture of appreciation, the COAS presented a Ghana Army customised plaque and sash to Lt Col Andreas Heselschwerdt.
