GA’S 1BN SET IN MOTION

by Kofi Ampeah Woode

The Commanding Officer (CO), 1 Infantry Battalion (1Bn) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Dominic Ampomah has assured his Unit of his determination to embark on projects that will bring relief to them and their families, as he continues to pursue courses that will only uplift the image of the Unit higher than he met it.

The CO made the comments when he reopened for use on Monday March 20, 2023, a critical culvert on a main access road in the center of Michel Camp that had broken down at the Market, and had long caused inconvenience, obstructing free access to movement of motorists, pedestrians, the market women and patrons of the marketplace.

The completion of the project which may seem trivial, cost the Unit some huge amounts of bags of cement and iron rods, and extensive labour provided by Major Mirabel Howard and Captain Fokuo, past Officer Commanding (OC) and present OC, 492 Engineer Detachment and Staff, Michel Camp.

To ensure hygienic conditions at the marketplace, the CO used the occasion to inform users of the marketplace of efforts to also repair the washroom facilities of the market, which has been in bad conditions for a long time, and has become a pertinent matter of concern to the barracks community.

He expressed expectation that all of the Unit would defend successes chalked by 1BN as one of the cleanest barracks of the Ghana Armed Force (GAF).
1Bn has seen some sustained increase in activities of construction since the assumption of office of LT Col D Ampomah.

There are; the Agbawu Young Female Soldiers’ Block extension works to accommodate 30 more Soldiers, the completion of reconstruction and conversion of a dilapidated structure at No. 2 Car Park into accommodation for Young Soldiers, the completion of the Officers’ accommodation at the Officers’ Mess, the completion of renovation and makeover works at the CO’s residence, and the foundation works of a 550-seater auditorium. READY AND WILLING – SURE TO DELIVER
