GA’S 6BN INDUCTS NEW CO

Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Jerry Ankuyi has been inducted into office as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the 6 Infantry Battalion (6Bn) at an inter-denominational service.

In his remarks after the induction on Sunday 4 June 2023 at the Church of Pentecost, Kamina Barracks, in Tamale, Lt Col J Ankuyi expressed his appreciation to the entire Unit for their level of professionalism and cooperation shown him, from his appointment as Commander Rear to his unit, since the former CO – Colonel (Col) Benjamin Boamah embarked on a peacekeeping mission.

Lt Col J Ankuyi thanked Ghana’s Military High Command for the opportunity and re-affirmed his commitment towards discharging his duties diligently.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General Matthew Essien, was also the Guest of Honour in his address was emphatic on the theme “For God and Country”, and stressed on the patriotic mandate of the Ghana Armed Forces.

He acknowledged the threat of Violent Extremism (VE) and terrorism facing the Sahel region, and its rippling effects, but encouraged troops to continue to support other security services, in fighting the threats.

The Dignitaries present included the Northern Regional Minister – Alhassan S Shaibu, Airforce Base Commander, Tamale – Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai, and Director Airforce Base Religious Affairs – Dr Col BG Kumi-Woode.
