The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command (N/COMD) – Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Kweku Essien has paid a courtesy call on the King of the Dagbon Land – His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II, at his place in Yendi.
The visit on Tuesday 5 March, 2023, was to formally inform the Gbewaa Naa of his end of tenure as the GOC N/COMD, and subsequent appointment to a higher office in Accra, and also introduce the incoming GOC – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Frank Nartey Tei to the King.
Maj Gen MK Essien thanked the Gbewaa Naa for his support and cooperation he offered during his tenure as the GOC.
He added that the successes and achievements chalked by the N/COMD could be attributed to the support from the Gbewaa Naa, and prayed for the same support to be offered to his successor.
His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II expressed his elation on the news of the promotion of the GOC and added that it was a testament to the good works the GOC had done in the region.
He further assured the new GOC of his support to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The incoming GOC – Brig Gen FN Tei, on his part thanked the Gbewaa Naa for his warm reception, and promised to build on the legacies of his predecessor.
