The Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) Major General (Maj Gen) Richard Addo Gyane and his team have concluded their European Tour, with a visit to the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

Discussions centered on the impactful outcomes and utilization of funding for Phases 1 & 2 of their cooperative project: “Deepening the Role of Women and Youth in Implementing the Peace and Security Agenda in Africa.”

In Stockholm, the team also engaged with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) to explore joint initiatives focusing on research, training, and critical issues such as Women, Youth, Peace, Security, and Climate Change, with exciting potential partnerships ahead, as they continue their mission to foster sustainable peace in Africa.

Maj Gen RA Gyane and his team had fruitful discussions at the Swedish Institute, exploring ways to strengthen leadership, alumni networks, and access to global knowledge and talent, pursuing KAIPTC’s 5 Strategic Plan of fostering impactful partnerships to advance peace and security in Africa.

The discussions continued with insightful meetings at the Nordic Africa Institute, delving into research partnerships, faculty exchanges, and strategies to tackle pressing issues like the notorious security situation in the Sahel and reforms at the African Union.

Similarly, the Commandant and his Leadership team were in Finland, and had productive discussions with the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, and the Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI).

These dialogues centered on charting KAIPTC’s new strategic path, enhancing collaboration in research, training, women and youth empowerment in peace and security, policy advocacy, and staff exchange initiatives.
