The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Ghana Army – Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, has made a cash donation of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 10,000) to every one of the Soldiers who lost their personal belongings, in the recent fire outbreak at the Uaddara Barracks, Kumasi.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Central Command (C/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Michael Kwadwo Opoku made a presentation of the amount to the affected Soldiers, on behalf of the COAS, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Barracks.

The COAS, also spoke personally to the Soldiers on phone, expressing his heartfelt sympathy to them for their ordeal, and reassured them that the Military High Command stands with them during their challenging time.
The Soldiers, in return, expressed their gratitude for the support and efforts shown by the COAS, and the Military High Command, to assist them in their recovery.

A fire outbreak razed a wooden block, which was housing 5 Soldiers at the Uaddara Barracks, Kumasi, on Monday 28 October, 2024, leaving in its wake, nothing to salvage. The GOC then followed up with an immediate package of sustenance to the victims, promising them further care from the Military High Command.
The Command Operations Officer, C/COMD – Colonel Ansah-Akrofi, the Command Sergeant Major – Senior Warrant Officer Class One Kalasi Daniel, and other Soldiers, accompanied the GOC, to solidarize with their fellows.
