The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has reiterated the need to improve the collaborative efforts of the GAF and the United States of America (USA) Military, in addressing security challenges in the West African region.
The CDS made this remark when he met with the US Chief of Staff Army, at the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington DC on Monday 14 October 2024.

The 3-dayevent under the theme “Transforming for a Complex World”, drew more than 33,000 people from all over the world, hosting many professional development fora and panel discussions, as well as over 775 exhibits.
General Oppong-Peprah took the opportunity to meet with Major General Andrew C Gainey – the Commanding General of the US Army, Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), where the two Generals discussed innovative ways to enhance training and other areas of interest.

Later, the CDS met with Colonel William Kobby Anyimah Ackah of GAF, now at the US Army War College, who was also at the Exposition.
