GERMAN MIL TEAM VISITS CDS GAF

A 3-member delegation from the German Armed Forces, led by Head of Department for Bilateral Military Cooperation at the German Ministry of Defence – Colonel (Col) Holger Leukert, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Ghana Navy – Rear Admiral (R /Adm) Issah Adam Yakubu, received the delegation on behalf of the CDS, on Wednesday, 9 October 2024 at the General Headquarters.

The visit aimed to foster bilateral cooperation and deepen security collaboration between the two institutions.

During the meeting, R/Adm IA Yakubu acknowledged the significant contributions of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG), to GAF.

He highlighted the various areas of assistance provided by GAFTAG, including intelligence sharing, logistics, and training, praised GAFTAG’s continued support, and called for further collaboration.

Col Leukert on his part, used the opportunity to introduce the new Defence Attaché of the German Embassy to Ghana – Lieutenant Colonel Gerstenecker to R/Adm IA Yakubu.
